Students receive information about graduation activities via their @illinois.edu email address.

Undergraduate Checklist: What You Must Do To Participate

  • Add yourself to the pending degree list. (This step should have been done by the 10th day of class. Contact a staff member in 128 Mumford Hall if you have failed to do this.)
  • If you will complete your graduation requirements in December 2017 and are not able to participate in the December ceremony you may petition to walk in the May 2018 ceremony. Please complete the Petition for ACES Convocation. Your petition will be reviewed and you will receive an answer in approximately 7 days. On the petition, you must list your rationale for why an exception should be made on your behalf. Petitions will be approved for extreme circumstances and will be based on your explanation. The deadline to submit the petition is Friday, November 17, by 4:30 pm
  • The invitation to register for ACES December Convocation was emailed to Bachelor's candidates on Oct. 23, 2017. Registration closes Friday, November 17, 2017 at 4:30 pm - YOU MUST REGISTER!

  • Order academic attire through Herff Jones.

  • Pick up and return your academic attire.

Eligibility

Convocation is not a certification of graduation, but rather a ceremony that celebrates your academic achievements. All degree requirements must be satisfied before graduation and diploma conferral. You are eligible to participate in Commencement if you are graduating in December 2017 or graduated in August 2017 and have not previously participated in an ACES Convocation ceremony. Registering to participate in the ceremony does not place your name on the degree list. Students are responsible for announcing their candidacy for a degree by registering in the same term you will complete all requirements for graduation.
