Line-up at 12:45 pm: Enter through tunnel off of Fourth Street, East Side of State Farm Center.

Students MUST REGISTER by Thursday, April 18 at 4:30 pm. Invitation to register emails are sent to the students' University of Illinois email address by early March. If you have not received one and think you should have, please contact acesgraduation@illinois.edu.

ACES Tassel Turn Reception - For the graduates and their families, hosted by the ACES Alumni Association, will be held 10:30 - 12:30 May 12, 2019 at the Colonnades Club in Memorial Stadium. Registration is required. Register for ACES Tassel Turn Reception.

Frequently Asked Questions About May Convocation

Am I required to participate in the graduation ceremony?

All graduates are invited and encouraged to participate, but attendance is not mandatory.

Do I need to notify anyone that I intend to participate in the College of ACES Convocation Ceremony?

Yes, advanced registration for the College of ACES ceremony will be required by all graduates who wish to participate. Please review your email invitation sent to your University of Illinois acount to register to participate, order your cap and gown and receive information on the additional steps necessary to participate.

How do I get started notifying the College of ACES that I plan to graduate?

Students need to put themselves on the Pending Degree List (PDL) by the 10th day of class. To do this, access your Banner Self-Service account and click on the graduation tab. If it is past the 10th day of class, you will no longer be able to do this online and should go to 128 Mumford to have a staff member assist you.

Are tickets required?

No tickets are required for the College of ACES May 2019 Convocation Ceremony.

How long does the ACES Convocation Ceremony last?

The ACES Convocation ceremony should last approximately two and a half hours. Please make arrangements to attend the entire ceremony as those who leave the building will not be permitted to return.

Is the ACES Convocation Ceremony accessible to people with disabilities?

Yes. For attendees in need of assistive devices such as wheelchairs and walkers, it is suggested that these devices are brought to the ceremony from home or local leasing services.

Instructions for special needs

Guests in wheelchairs, or for whom walking is difficult, may be dropped off outside the ceremony location at the west or east doors. Inside the building, ushers will help direct you to designated seating areas.

Graduates with disabilities who require special assistance to fully participate in the ACES Convocation ceremony should email mschaefr@illinois.edu, visit 115 ACES Library (Monday - Friday 9:00 am - 4:00 pm) or call 217 244 3694, prior to the ceremony to make necessary arrangements.

Is there a rehearsal? How will I know what to do when I arrive at the ceremony?

There is no rehearsal for the ceremony. Faculty members will assist students in lining up for the processional.

Who is eligible to participate in the ACES Convocation Ceremony?

Convocation is not a certification of graduation, but rather a ceremony that celebrates academic achievements. This ceremony is intended for May 2019 and August 2019 graduates who have not previously participated in an ACES Convocation ceremony.

Recipients of doctoral degrees must have deposited their dissertation in the Graduate College Thesis Office by the current year's deadline (April 19, 2019 by 5:00 pm) in order to participate in the ACES May 2019 Convocation ceremony.
