Receiving the Diploma

When will I receive my diploma?

Because it is not possible to process grades and prepare degree lists by commencement weekend, diplomas will be mailed to graduates approximately nine weeks after your conferral date.  Please visit the Office of the Registrar for more information about your diploma.

What is a diploma mailing address?

The address that will be used to mail your diploma is the "Diploma Address."  If the Diploma Address is unavailable, it will be mailed to the "Mailing Address."  Students should check and update their "Diploma Address" at Enterprise Self-Service.  If your diploma is returned to the Office of the Registrar, you will be responsible for providing a corrected address and paying for any forwarding mail charges.  If you have any questions about your diploma, please contact the Office of the Registrar at (217) 333-0210.

May I change the way my name is shown?

If you wish to change your name in the University of Illinois permanent academic records, please read the Name Change Information on the Office of the Registrar web page.  Contact Registration Services by phone (217-333-6565) or by email (registration@illinois.edu) for name change questions that are not covered in the Name Change Information page.  For international students:  Name on diploma must be the same as the student's passport name or in the University of Illinois student academic records.
